I used to change the diaper the standard way. Yes, there is a standard way of doing it- the way I saw my mother, my aunt, my friends do it. I did question it- the way I had to lift baby up; curving her spine until I was done but I knew no other way. I did a bit of research and found that I had been doing it wrong- that the standard way of changing diaper puts a lot of stress on the baby’s spine as the spine pushes back and disturbs the nerve roots attached to intestines thereby disrupting the flow of information between brain and intestine . This, in turn, causes more colic and gas. According to a study- roughly 300 babies, with moderate to severe colic and an average of 5.2 hours of crying a day, showed considerable improvement in colic-related symptoms after spinal manipulations were conducted by chiropractors. A good majority of these babies had previously undergone unsuccessful drug treatments.
Here’s introducing the roll technique for changing diapers.
